Fitness Classes A wide variety of Group fitness classes are offered every day at a number of our facilities. These classes include cardio kickboxing, karate, and yoga available at the Fort Shafter Fitness Center, cardio kickboxing at the Tripler Fitness Center, and step aerobics, group cycling, yoga, cardio-Kickboxing, zumba, boot camp, pilates and more at the Health and Fitness Center on Schofield. Personal Training Need one on one attention or a little peer pressure to keep you motivated? If you want to improve your fitness level, hiring a personal trainer can be a step in the right direction. A good trainer can help you set up a program that meets your goals. We have a staff of well educated and certified fitness professionals with varied backgrounds. Their job is to assess your fitness level, set up a program for you, and help keep you motivated. He or she will push you past your comfort level--something many find difficult to do on their own. Contact the fitness office or fitness centers for more information.
Civilian Fitness Program Are you a Department of the Army civilian employee interested in adopting an active lifestyle? The Civilian Fitness Program may be just what you need to jump start a healthy and active lifestyle. This is a six-month program that includes on-going assessments, a subscription to fitnessjournal.com, orientation to all of our programs, and time off from work to improve your health and fitness. Health and Fitness Assessments Health and Fitness assessments are available at all fitness centers. Health assessments include blood pressure readings, heart rate, height, weight, BMI and body fat % readings. After these measurements are taken, you will receive help setting basic fitness goals for yourself.
Fitness assessments include cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance measurement and flexibility testing. Contact the Sports & Fitness office for more information.
