Services:

Children’s Programs : Visit one of our libraries with your children and introduce them to the pleasures of reading. Throughout the year, a variety of programs are offered to include: pre-school story times, craft activities, live performances, and summer reading club.

Programs:

Video Story Time : The video story time offers military parents the opportunity to read to their children even if the parent is deployed. The library will provide video equipment to make a videocassette or DVD, and books for parents to tape a story time for their children. Call 655-8002 to make an appointment to create a video story time. All military personnel are welcome, but preference will be given to those personnel who will be deploying.

Public Internet Access : Internet access is available to library customers to conduct research, participate in distance learning, as well as stay in touch with family and friends.

Spanish Language Materials: Sgt Yano Library offers materials for children and adults in Spanish. With an internet connection you can view the titles available by searching our online catalog, http://dodhawaiilibraries.org . Click on the “WebCat” logo and then click on the “Power Search” button. Type “Spanish Collection” in the location field, then click on the “Search” button.

Online Library Catalog : The Army library system is an integrated library system. IBistro (PACOM Hawaii Libraries’ online catalog) permits public access to both Oahu Army and Air Force library holdings. The URL is: http://dodhawaiilibraries.org .

Online Research Databases : ProQuest Research Library is available at all of the Army Oahu libraries. The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Christian Science Monitor are indexed as well as periodicals that cover a broad range of subjects including arts, business, education, health, psychology, sciences, and social sciences.

The US Army Community and Family Support Center has funded numerous databases that are available from library computers or from other locations via AKO (Army Knowledge Online). These databases are:

Ebsco Academic and MasterFile Search Premier & Military and Government Collection, Auto Repair Reference Center NetLibrary (US Army General Library E-Books Collection), Peterson’s Online Resource Center, and Gale Student Resource Center.
